Bath repair across HG3: what to expect
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Our repair technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and people most frequently call us about rusty patches near the plughole and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.
Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Work for landlords and builders
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in HG3 as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
Common problems we fix in HG3
Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, often before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Chips caused by builders
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- A kit repair that didn’t last
Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
Should you replace it?
People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Typically it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement.
What your quote should include
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- What happens if they find more damage
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- How soon you can use it again
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
Your questions about bath repair in HG3
Will the price change on the day?
If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
What happens after I send pictures?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
Can you redo an old repair?
Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
Is there a call-out fee?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.
