Bath repair at your home in Greenrow

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Common call-outs are for a hole punched through by something heavy and cracks in an acrylic bath, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Greenrow and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Greenrow: your questions answered

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Greenrow and the rest of Cumbria. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Do you cover Greenrow?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Greenrow. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

What we’re called out for in Greenrow

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

10 questions to ask before booking

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we work on in Greenrow

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Should you replace it?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Greenrow. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why Greenrow customers choose us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colour-matched on site

The process

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
