Bath repair in Hale

How we handle bath repair in Hale

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. Whether it’s holes from dropped items and deep scratches in acrylic, we can usually put it right.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Hale. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

Most customers in Hale get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

The process

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Related advice

Hale: your questions answered

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Will the repair last?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

See our full price list and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Signs you need bath repair in Hale

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
