Bath repair at your home in Hardwick

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are impact holes in acrylic and chips caused by builders.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

Repairing versus replacing in Hardwick

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Hardwick: your questions answered

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Hardwick. The price reflects:

  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Rinse it down after each bath

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

What a repair cannot fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
