Bath repair for Fairfield homes

How we handle bath repair in Fairfield

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the next day. Common call-outs are for snagging damage from a refit and a chip where the taps sit, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Fairfield: your questions answered

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.

What affects the price in Fairfield

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Stockton-on-Tees and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Fairfield as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Do you need bath repair in Fairfield?

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips caused by builders
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What your quote should include

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How the room is protected while they work
