Bath repair in Hartlip without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. Common call-outs are for scuffs and scratches in the surface and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

See our prices page and bath cost comparison.

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What affects the price in Hartlip

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Hartlip. The price depends on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • Access to the area

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Open a window if you can

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
