Bath repair in Heathgates

Bath repair at your home in Heathgates

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. If you’re dealing with chips on the rim or sides and a chip where the taps sit, we can generally put it right, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Store metal items away from the bath

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Your questions about bath repair in Heathgates

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.

Will the repair last?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Heathgates as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
