Bath repair in Hebburn

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the following day.

Bath repair in Hebburn without replacing anything

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the next day. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and a chipped rim or side, in whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Questions from Hebburn

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do you come to Hebburn?

We do. Technicians travel to Hebburn from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Is a bath repair permanent?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of South Tyneside. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hebburn

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most customers in Hebburn get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
