Bath repair for Walker homes

Bath repair at your home in Walker

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can typically bathe again the following day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. We are often asked to fix damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and a cracked acrylic bath, in roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

10 questions to ask before booking

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Your questions about bath repair in Walker

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, typically with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Repairing versus replacing in Walker

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Walker. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Walker customers choose us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

What affects the price in Walker

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many areas need work

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed price
