About our bath repair in Hedenham

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, typically in a single visit. We’re often asked to fix a chip where the taps sit and snagging damage from a refit, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Hedenham questions

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Hedenham included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Landlord and trade work in Hedenham

If you manage property in Hedenham, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Repair or replace in Hedenham?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
