Bath repair in Hermitage, done in place
It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Our repair technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are damage beneath the taps and scuffs and scratches in the surface.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:
- The material
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How many areas need work
- How easy the damage is to reach
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
How to get a fixed price
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:
- The material, if you know it
- Details of any past repairs
- A picture taken from further back
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
What we can’t put right
To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Pressed steel enamel
Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

What we are called out for in Hermitage
The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Rust by the waste and overflow
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- Snagging damage from a refit

What happens on the day
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the next day.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Ensure the area is dry
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
How to get a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We will say right away if a repair is the right fix.
Advice
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
DIY kit or professional repair?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
What else we do in Hermitage
Why repair rather than replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why us?
- No extra charge for your area
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
- Colour mixed on the day to match
