Bath repair in Hodthorpe

How we handle bath repair in Hodthorpe

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and a chip where the taps sit, in acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Hodthorpe and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Do you need bath repair in Hodthorpe?

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side
  • A cracked acrylic bath

What to look for in a quote

  • How soon you can use it again
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Hodthorpe: your questions answered

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.

How much does bath repair cost in Hodthorpe?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Nottinghamshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Hodthorpe.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a morning or an afternoon, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • A fixed quote before you book

See our full price list or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.
