About our bath repair in Hooe

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. If you are dealing with a cracked acrylic bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can usually put it right.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Hooe as everywhere else we work.

Hooe: your questions answered

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send photos.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, so Hooe is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Hooe

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

What affects the price in Hooe

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Hooe. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • A photo taken from further back

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Should you replace it?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Typically it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Landlord and trade work in Hooe

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Hooe as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
