How bath repair works in BN3
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and damage beneath the taps.
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
What it costs in BN3
Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for BN3. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What we are called out for in BN3
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Chips caused by builders
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- Damage beneath the taps
- Chips on the rim or sides
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
What a repair cannot fix
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Keeping it looking good
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
BN3: your questions answered
How do I book?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.
Do you cover BN3?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to BN3. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Is a bath repair durable?
Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.
