Bath repair for Imeraval homes

Bath repair in Imeraval without replacing anything

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are a hole punched through by something heavy and rusty patches near the plughole.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Ensure the area is dry

Advice

Should you replace it?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Imeraval questions

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Imeraval?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is a bath repair durable?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Imeraval. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire bath

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
