Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one usually means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

  • Rooms protected and left tidy

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

Advice

What we cannot put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Irlam

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Irlam. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • The colour and finish to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

Phone photos are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

FAQs for Irlam

Will I be able to see the repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Do you cover Irlam?

We do. We send a technician to Irlam for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What we are called out for in Irlam

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

Before booking anyone

  • How your room will be protected
  • How soon you can use it again
