How we handle bath repair in Jump
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. If you are dealing with chips on the rim or sides and snagging damage from a refit, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

For landlords and businesses
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Common problems we fix in Jump
Rust typically starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Chips under the taps
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- Cracks in an acrylic bath

Common questions in Jump
Can rust on a bath be repaired?
Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
How do I book?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
Do you cover Jump?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Jump and the rest of Barnsley. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Normally the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send pictures.
Do you cover the whole of Barnsley?
The entire UK, including all of Barnsley. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Why repair rather than replace?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Honest limits
We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
Surfaces we repair

- Roll-top & freestanding

- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
How the visit works
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow a few hours from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
How to get a price
If you are in Jump and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
Related advice
Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- What the surface is made of
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Whether we combine several jobs
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Quotes from your photos
You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Make sure they show:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- What it’s made of, if you know
You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
