Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A photo taken from further back

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

Repair or replace in King's Park?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Generally it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Your questions about bath repair in King's Park

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote. You are under no obligation.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally the following day. We confirm the time before we leave.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
