Bath repair near Spittal

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

Bath repair at your home in Spittal

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the day after. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and rust by the waste and overflow.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a morning or an afternoon, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

Our hiring checklist

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

You can take the photos on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Repairing versus replacing in Spittal

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
