About our bath repair in Kingston

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. You won’t need a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Whether it’s a chip where the taps sit and snagging damage from a refit, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Dorset.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace in Kingston?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

FAQs for Kingston

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Will the repair show?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

When we would advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Dorset and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
