Bath repair in Kinwalsey

About our bath repair in Kinwalsey

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can typically bathe again the next day. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. We’re frequently asked to fix chips caused by builders and impact holes in acrylic, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Common problems we fix in Kinwalsey

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How the colour is matched
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Kinwalsey

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Kinwalsey: your questions answered

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Typically the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

What does bath repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Honest limits

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
