Need bath repair in Kirkby?

Bath repair in Kirkby, done in place

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We are frequently asked to fix chips on the rim or sides and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, across roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

People generally call us after spotting something like this:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How to look after the finish

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a morning or an afternoon. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One visit for most repairs

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Kirkby. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
