How the visit works

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the work takes two to three hours for most chips. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Bath repair at your home in Langho

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Typical jobs include rust by the waste and overflow and a chipped rim or side, in acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Langho and across Lancashire.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Rinse it down after each bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Repair or replace in Langho?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Questions from Langho

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.
