Bath repair for Latchford homes

Should you replace it?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it doesn’t: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What you get with us

Bath repair in Latchford, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the next day. If you’re dealing with an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, we can help, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding alike.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

FAQs for Latchford

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Typically. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Latchford. The price reflects:

  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
