Trusted bath repair in Latimer

Landlord and trade work in Latimer

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Latimer use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Bath repair in Latimer, done in place

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We’re frequently asked to fix chips under the taps and snagging damage from a refit, across pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Latimer and across Buckinghamshire.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Latimer. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the pictures on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

When we would advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Latimer

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Do you need bath repair in Latimer?

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Rust spots around the plughole

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How the colour is matched

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
