Need bath repair in Chenies?

Bath repair in Chenies, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can usually use the bath the day after. Typical jobs include rust spots around the plughole and scuffs and scratches in the surface, on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Chenies and across Hertfordshire.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Signs you need bath repair in Chenies

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Chenies. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Everything repaired in place

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

What we do, step by step

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Chenies questions

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
