Bath repair for Liss homes

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Bath repair in Liss without replacing anything

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site. We’re frequently asked to fix a chipped rim or side and rusty patches near the plughole, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

How to look after the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What affects the price in Liss

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
