Need bath repair in Littlemore?

About our bath repair in Littlemore

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. Whether it’s chips along the edge of the bath and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, we can typically put it right.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Landlord and trade work in Littlemore

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Littlemore. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
