Common problems we fix in Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll

A cracked acrylic bath generally wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

The things customers typically mention when they call include:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

About our bath repair in Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. We are often asked to fix hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What you get with us

  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colour-matched on site

What affects the price in Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Where you are, by postcode

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

How it works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Getting a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
