Bath repair for Amlwch homes

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Amlwch use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Bath repair in Amlwch, done in place

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. If you’re dealing with damage beneath the taps and deep scratches in acrylic, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Common questions in Amlwch

Do you cover the whole of Isle of Anglesey?

Everywhere in the UK, Amlwch included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Amlwch

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Why repair rather than replace?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why Amlwch clients choose us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

10 questions to ask before you book

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes a few hours in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the day after.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
