How we handle bath repair in Llansamlet

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for impact holes in acrylic and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Llansamlet as everywhere else we work.

Your questions about bath repair in Llansamlet

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

When can I have a bath again?

Typically the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One visit for most repairs

Read our pricing or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Upload a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your SA7 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
