Bath repair for Tre-gof homes

Bath repair at your home in Tre-gof

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and rust spots around the plughole, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Tre-gof: your questions answered

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send photos.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Why repair rather than replace?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Tre-gof

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

See our full price list or bath cost comparison.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Tre-gof. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a few hours, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
