Should you replace it?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why book with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Read our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Signs you need bath repair in Long Wittenham

Rust normally starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

What to look for in a quote

When we’d advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Long Wittenham: your questions answered

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Do you work in Long Wittenham?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Long Wittenham from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the next day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Landlord and trade work in Long Wittenham

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

If you manage property in Long Wittenham, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
