FAQs for Lover

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Frequently, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Do you work in Lover?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Lover from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Bath repair at your home in Lover

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, generally in a single visit. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people contact us are a kit repair that didn’t last and holes from dropped items.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Ask for a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Why book with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Lover. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lover as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
