What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Lye Green. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A picture taken from further back

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

About our bath repair in Lye Green

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Common call-outs are for deep scratches in acrylic and a chip where the taps sit, across acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Why repair rather than replace?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why Lye Green clients choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Same prices wherever you are

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Ask for a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
