Why repair rather than replace?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • One visit for most repairs

About our bath repair in Mullion

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are often asked to fix chips on the rim or sides and snagging damage from a refit, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cornwall.

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Advice

Do you need bath repair in Mullion?

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips under the taps
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted

Before booking anyone

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How the room is protected while they work

Our hiring checklist

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Common questions in Mullion

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
