Bath repair for Nethercraigs homes

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Bath repair in Nethercraigs, done in place

We see every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. All of it is repaired where the bath stands. Whether it’s chips on the rim or sides and damage beneath the taps, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Ensure the area is dry

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Common problems we fix in Nethercraigs

Rust generally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A chip where the taps sit

Questions to ask before you book

  • When it can be used again
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Nethercraigs use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Questions from Nethercraigs

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Nethercraigs. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repair or replace: which is better?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. In most cases it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why Nethercraigs clients choose us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • No need to remove anything
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
