Bath repair for Newbattle homes

Bath repair in Newbattle without replacing anything

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about chips along the edge of the bath and rust spots around the plughole.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should you replace it?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

What a repair cannot fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Newbattle: your questions answered

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very often. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Landlord and trade work in Newbattle

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Midlothian and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What we’re called out for in Newbattle

A cracked acrylic bath usually wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Damage beneath the taps

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Newbattle. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon in most cases. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
