Bath repair in Newham

Repair or replace in Newham?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Newham clients choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Bath repair in Newham, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. We’re often asked to fix damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and cracks in an acrylic bath, on cast iron enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Newham questions

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Are there extra charges for Newham?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

When we would advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A steel bath rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Newham

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

Common problems we fix in Newham

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

Our hiring checklist

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, depending on the damage, tidy-up included.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
