How we handle bath repair in North Oxford

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can generally use the bath the day after. If you’re dealing with a chip where the taps sit and scuffs and scratches in the surface, we can help, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months in North Oxford and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • How many areas need work

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Landlords, agents and businesses in North Oxford

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know about parking or access

Related advice

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
