Bath re-enamelling in North Oxford

About our bath re-enamelling in North Oxford

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. If you’re dealing with stains that won’t shift and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, we can help.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

When to call us in North Oxford

The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

What your quote should include

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

10 questions to ask before booking

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No extra charge for your area
  • No need to remove anything
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a full day. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in North Oxford

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for North Oxford. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

FAQs for North Oxford

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Do you cover North Oxford?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to North Oxford. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
