Need bath repair in Paddock?

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Most clients in Paddock get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Bath repair at your home in Paddock

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. If you’re dealing with impact holes in acrylic and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A chip where the taps sit

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
