What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How we handle bath repair in Parkgrove

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about a cracked acrylic bath and chips on the rim or sides.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Parkgrove and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Parkgrove

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

What we do, step by step

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Common questions in Parkgrove

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Usually the day after. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What we are called out for in Parkgrove

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

Before you book anyone

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
