Bath repair in Parnwell

How we handle bath repair in Parnwell

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in a single visit. Typical jobs include a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, in pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Parnwell as everywhere else we work.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Parnwell

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

If you manage property in Parnwell, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Common problems we fix in Parnwell

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Chips caused by builders

Questions to ask before you book

How to compare quotes

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Parnwell. The price comes down to:

  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Repair or replace in Parnwell?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Common questions in Parnwell

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Do you cover the entire of Lincolnshire?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Normally. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Parnwell

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
