Need bath repair in Patching?

Bath repair in Patching, done in place

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are chips along the edge of the bath and damage beneath the taps.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

What we are called out for in Patching

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Damage beneath the taps

  • How long it needs to cure

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

Common questions in Patching

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Do you work in Patching?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Patching and the rest of Essex. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Are there extra charges for Patching?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What affects the price in Patching

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many areas need work
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Patching. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
