Bath repair in Peterculter

Bath repair in Peterculter without replacing anything

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We are often asked to fix damage beneath the taps and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, in cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Peterculter use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Peterculter questions

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Aberdeen.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Normally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send photos.

Common problems we fix in Peterculter

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rust spots around the plughole

10 questions to ask before you book

What a repair can’t fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the day after.

Preparing for the visit

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Peterculter. What changes the price is:

  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Repair or replace in Peterculter?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one usually means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
