How we handle bath repair in Dyce

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can usually use the bath the following day. Whether it’s a cracked acrylic bath and impact holes in acrylic, we can typically put it right.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Do you need bath repair in Dyce?

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until it cracks.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Dyce. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

If you are in Dyce and want a price, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Should you replace it?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim usually crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage
