FAQs for Phoenix Green

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you cover Phoenix Green?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Phoenix Green and the rest of Hampshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Hampshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

How we handle bath repair in Phoenix Green

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. We work on acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are damage beneath the taps and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath generally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Phoenix Green. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Phoenix Green, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How to get a price

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say right away whether it can be repaired.
