Bath repair near Piper's Ash

How we handle bath repair in Piper's Ash

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are cracks in an acrylic bath and snagging damage from a refit.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

When to call us in Piper's Ash

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Holes from dropped items

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Piper's Ash. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

What affects the price in Piper's Ash

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send photos for a quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs

Email us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Piper's Ash, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

FAQs for Piper's Ash

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you cover Piper's Ash?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Piper's Ash from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Generally. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
