Bath repair at your home in CH3

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Common call-outs are for a cracked acrylic bath and holes from dropped items, in roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Cost

Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Near you in Hoole

In Hoole, that means homes near Grosvenor Park, Dee House and All Saints' Church. Other local landmarks include Hoole Church of England Primary School (under half a mile west), Ye Gardeners Arms Public House (0.5 miles south-west) and The Bishops' Blue Coat Church of England High School (0.9 miles south). Hoole’s nearest station is Chester station, roughly 0.8 miles west of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Chester (1.3 miles south-west) and Countess of Chester Hospital (1.7 miles north-west). For a walk, there’s Hockenhull Platts.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

What we are called out for in CH3

Rust normally starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • A cracked acrylic bath

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Repair or replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.
